Delhi Police have arrested four men and busted a racket of illicit liquor being run in Capital. The accused, include a father-son duo as well as a former employee of a Bollywood production house, police said.Four accused who were arrested are identified as Abbas Khan (34), Praveen alias Bobby (27), Totaram (56) and Vipin Kumar alias Gabbar (26). Along with three cars, the police recovered 35 cartons of illicit liquor containing 1750 quarters of liquor from Okhla Phase III.While Abbas Khan was earlier living in Mumbai with his siblings and was working there in a film production company, Bobby is the youngest son of Totaram.”On Sunday, around 5.30 pm when a police team was patrolling in the Okhla Phase-III area they saw three cars, a Fiat Punto, Maruti Esteem and a Maruti A-Star parked near an abandoned industry. Police saw four persons engaged in shifting some boxes from one car to other two cars. The staff got suspicious about their activities and rushed towards the cars. Seeing the police team approaching towards them, all four tried to flee but were successfully apprehended by the police team,” said DCP southeast, Chinmoy Biswal. On checking the vehicles cartons full of illicit liquor for sale in Haryana were recovered. Biswal said that since most of the factories and companies remain closed on Sunday in the industrial area, this was a good opportunity for bootleggers to transport their liquor cartons without being noticed by anyone in the area. “Also, the demand and sale of illicit liquor would go up in the weekends. The local vendors Totaram, Praveen alias Bobby and Vipin Kumar alias Gabbar used to sell these liquor quarters at hiked prices to the labours residing and working in the area,” he said.
