It was a race against time for the police in north-east Delhi when they realised that life of a 10-year-old child was at stake and the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore. Intensified operations and surveillance led to the recovery of the child within 24 hours and the child’s cousin was arrested for planning the kidnapping with two of the victim’s father’s former employees. It was on Monday, that the boy, a resident of Kardampuri near West Jyoti Nagar was coming back from tuition along with his sister when two men approached them asking for the address of their uncle. On this, while the boy went with the men to show the address, his sister returned home. However, the child did not return home after that.DCP northeast, Ajit Singla said that the kidnapping came to light when on Tuesday the boy’s father got ransom calls from the kidnappers asking for Rs 1 crore against the release of the child. A case was immediately registered at Jyoti Nagar police station.”The child was taken to Panipat and kept there for a night. Next day, he was brought to the Capital and more ransom calls were made from Panipat and Delhi. Following surveillance and questioning of those known to the family and friends, the police zeroed in on two men. They were identified as Tariq, a worker at the boy’s father’s factory in Gokulpuri, another Danish, an ex-employee,” the officer said. Both Danish (22) and Tariq (21) are residents of Badaun in UP. While Tariq was still working at the child’s father’s factory, Danish was working at a factory in Vishwas Nagar.Further interrogation unveiled the involvement of one Mohsin, son of the victim’s aunt, who masterminded the kidnapping, Singla said. “Mohsin is absconding, and he is the main accused behind this. He is the sister’s son of the victim’s father. He was also the victim’s father’s confidant in all his business dealings,” the DCP informed. The caseThe boy was kidnapped on Monday by two men who asked for his uncle’s address On Tuesday, the boy’s father received ransom calls, after which a case was registered and the police started its operation
