Former Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Pravin Togadia on Tuesday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘deceiving the people of India’.Togadia, who recently quit the VHP, on Tuesday launched an indefinite fast in Ahmedabad to protest the inaction of the government in constructing the Ram temple in Ayodhya.“Narendra Modi walked on the corpses of 59 kar sevaks who lost their lives in the Godhra massacre in 2002. Three hundred Hindus were killed by bullets fired by the Gujarat police during the 2002 riots when Modi was the state chief minister. Over 50,000 people were arrested of which a number have been sentenced to life imprisonment. These people are facing these consequences only because they wanted a Ram temple built in Ayodhya. They voted Modi to power because they wanted to see a temple,” he claimed. The former VHP leader also accused the ruling BJP of double-standards. “When the Congress was in power, the BJP would shoot over our shoulders for the construction of the temple, but when they assumed power they said that the issue would be resolved by a court. After four years of staying in power, they have threatened that we drop the issue, but I refuse to do so,” Togadia alleged. The former VHP leader also claimed that PM Modi and his government failed to deliver promises. “They have gone back on their word regarding the temple, ban on cow slaughter, teaching a lesson to Pakistan for state-sponsored terrorism, abolition of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, and bringing a uniform civil code. He also slammed the Modi government for following the same things that the UPA government had introduced such as MNREGA, GST, FDI in retail sector and others. Also readPravin Togadia targets PM, says Modi govt has helped Pakistan supportersTogadia then asked his supporters to take an oath that they would make the BJP government construct Ram temple, provide employment to youth, security to women, provide sufficient prices for agricultural produce to farmers, provide quality and affordable education and respectful life for Hindu community.Togadia had claimed that thousands of supporters would turn up to support the indefinite fast, but hardly 500 supporters came. A flock of around 30 Sadhus from different parts of the state appeared on dais who also cursed Modi and his government. Togadia, in his address, however claimed that such programmes were being held in Nagpur, Thiruananthpuram, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow and other cities of India.
