Prime Minister Narendra Modi will spend 45 hours at the renowned Vivekananda Rock Memorial here on Thursday. He will sit in meditation at the site dedicated to the celebrated Hindu saint, and all the necessary preparations, including heightened security, have been made.

Five years after the PM conducted a similar meditation practice in a Kedarnath cave following the 2019 election campaign, a large posse of 2,000 police officers and representatives of other security agencies will be keeping a tight monitor in the district in the southernmost corner of the country during the PM’s event.

After the Lok Sabha polls campaign concludes on May 30, Modi will meditate at the Rock Memorial, a Swami Vivekananda memorial located here, BJP officials had announced. He is scheduled to meditate at Dhyan Mandapam, where Modi’s spiritual mentor Vivekananda is supposed to have had a divine vision of “Bharat Mata,” from May 30 to June 1. All of the BJP leaders have announced this.

In anticipation of Modi’s visit, security has been stepped up in Kanyakumari. Superintendent of Police E Sundaravathanam and DIG Pravesh Kumar of the Tirunelveli range had examined the security setups at the state guest house, boat jetty, helipad, and rock memorial at Kanyakumari.

A practice helicopter landing had taken place at the helipad, concurrently with the arrival of the prime minister’s main security team at the location.

Kanyakumari, which is marked on the map of world tourism, would have about 2,000 police officers stationed there and nearby.

The Tiruvalluvar statue, the spotless beach, and the Sri Bhagavathy Amman temple, which is situated near the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea triangular sea confluence, all contribute to the destination’s allure.
