The ruling BJP in Uttarakhand suffered a major setback in the assembly by-elections. It seems to be losing the Badrinath seat. The setback seems to have awakened the Opposition parties, who are now taunting BJP over this result.
Priyanka Chaturvedi, Rajya Sabha MP from Shiv Sena (UBT), said, “Jai Baba Badrinath, the non-biological party has lost here as well.” She was referring to Ayodhya, the Ramnagari of UP, where BJP lost the Lok Sabha elections.
According to the data till 2:50 pm, Congress’ Lakhpat Singh Butola was leading by 5224 votes on the Badrinath seat. Butola got 28161 votes, whereas BJP’s Rajendra Bhandari got 22937 votes.
INDIA bloc parties won three assembly seats and were leading on eight, while the Bharatiya Janata Party and an Independent were ahead on one each as votes were counted on Saturday for the by-elections held earlier this week, according to the trends on the EC website.
