<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>To spread awareness about noise pollution caused by use of car horns without any reason, a No Honking campaign was held here today. Members of the Earth Saviours Foundation, an NGO, along with the city police held ‘No Honking Campaign’ at Gurgaon- Faridabad Toll plaza by displaying banners, posters and putting stickers on vehicles. “Honking without any reason on roads is most offending. At traffic signals drivers start honking without waiting for signals to turn green or for the traffic to move,” the founder president of the Earth Saviours Foundation, Ravi Kalra, said. He said drivers even honk at silent zones such as near hospitals, schools, religious places or residential complexes. “Vehicular honking in metropolitan cities has reached an alarming level. It contributes to about 70 per cent of the noise pollution in our environment,” Kalra said. “It has been proved that noise is a silent killer. It is not just a nuisance but a health hazard too. Besides causing irritation, it increases blood pressure, causes stress and cardio-vascular ailments,” he said.(This article has not been edited by DNA’s editorial team and is auto-generated from an agency feed.)
