Here are excerpts of an interview by Jagdeesh Chandra, CEO, DNA and Zee Regional News ChannelsYou were a lawyer, what brought you into politics?I was a lawyer for 38 years. My wife asked me to join politics. You have to work 18 hours a day in politics and that is something I enjoy.How did you get a party ticket?Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje got me a ticket. The party president also contributed in it.One thing we notice is that you have cordial relations with the PM, CM and everybody else…In the BJP, hard work is given importance. My work is the reason why I have cordial relations with all of them.When did PM Narendra Modi notice you?The PM did not know me. His feedback is very strong. I had no connection to politics, but I was chosen keeping nation-building in mind.How do you rate the PM?The PM is renowned throughout the world. He will take India to greater heights.When we talk about Amit Shah, we talk about this terrific combination of vision and execution. How do you rate him as the party president?Amit Shah is a visionary. He has a very astute sense of management, and he does a superb job of executing the vision.Coming back to Rajasthan, how would you rate CM Raje?Vasundhara Raje is a visionary CM. She has laid great emphasis on the development of rural areas. She has been praised by the PM as well.What about the Bhamashah Yojana?The Bhamashah Yojana is for the most neglected sections of society. It is a very praiseworthy programme of the CM. Hospital expenses have come down for the common man.Looking at the good governance in Rajasthan, it seems that the BJP will win the 2018 polls…The BJP will win the 2018 polls. Our workers want perfect work. We have done more than what was done in the past 60 years.What are the prospects in the Jodhpur area?I have worked in fields. I know the problems of farmers. Our PM thinks of farmers and the government has done a lot of work for them. Others have just done sloganeering.The Rajasthan government is for the farmers…Yes. The Rajasthan government is for farmers, it has worked for them. Earlier, there were just slogans. But our government has reduced electricity rates for farmers by taking the burden on itself.What is happening at the organisational level in Rajasthan?There is fine coordination between the organisation and the government. The way the Congress was defeated in Maharashtra, it will get wiped out in Rajasthan in 2018.For the first time, I’m seeing a politician so excited about development…My work gets me charged up. I plan to start Common Service Centres at the gram panchayat level.There is a divide in Digital India. What about that?There is a gap between the urban and rural areas and technology can bridge that gap.
