<!– /11440465/Dna_Article_Middle_300x250_BTF –>A group of Good Samaritans in the Capital has taken up the cudgels for a hapless dog, who was beaten so brutally by some security guards on May 19 that its internal organs got damaged and it died an extremely painful death. Living in different parts of the city, these warriors for justice were brought together by a social media post about the shocking incident.Meanwhile, a police complaint has been filed against the guards and the management of the housing society concerned. As per the complaint, the dog was taken to NGO Friendicoes for treatment but it succumbed to the grave injuries.”We read about the incident on Facebook and met at the nearest Metro station. We then went to the housing society. Initially, the guards and the society management tried to cover up the matter and did not give us any details. We then went to the NGO to find out more. The doctors there told us how badly the dog was hit,” Sneha Dogra, an animal lover from Vasundhara Enclave, said.Pragati, another member of the group, said: “More than 10 days have passed, but the police have not registered an FIR yet. Even the post-mortem has not been done. The doctors are asking for the FIR before doing the post-mortem and the police are asking for the post-mortem report before filing the FIR. They are just killing time and making us run from one place to another.”The members of the housing society, however, claimed that the group was trying to extort money. “The matter is subjudice. We have moved the court against these people,” Manish Gandhi, Advocate for the co-operative society, said. When contacted, Gauri Mulekhi, trustee of People for Animals, an NGO funded by Union Minister Maneka Gandhi, said: “We are aware of the matter and have requested the police to take immediate action. It is extremely sad that animal lovers are being harassed by the society members.”
