An Ola cab driver allegedly harassed a 23-year-old woman after trapping her inside the car using child lock on Sunday night in Bengaluru. The woman, whose mobile phone battery had run out, could not alert anyone and was let go by the driver after she started banging on the windows and screamed. According to media reports, the incident took place around 10:30 pm on Sunday when the woman, a fashion stylist, booked the cab. The driver took her to a deserted spot on the Ring Road in southeast Bengaluru and suddenly stopped, the woman said. The driver then locked the doors engaging child safety locks and harassed her till she started banging on the door and screaming. “There was nobody on the road. I was looking out of the window when he suddenly stopped and started touching my legs. I warned him and tried to damage the car. He let me go then. He tried calling me later to warn me, but then I blocked his number,” she was quoted as saying by a news media. She went to the police, but decided not to file a complaint as the driver had been warned.Responding to the incident, an Ola spokesperson said, “We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during their ride. We have zero tolerance to such incidents and the driver has been suspended from the platform as an immediate action upon receiving the complaint.”The company urged the woman to file a formal complaint. It also added that the driver has been suspended from the platform.
