A Jhansi man was fined Rs 1,000 by traffic police for driving an Audi without wearing a helmet, which is a strange oversight.
The Jhansi truckers’ union president, Bahadur Singh Parihar, received the fine on his cell phone. Although the vehicle in the Challan photo is a two-wheeler, the term “motor car” is used to describe the type of vehicle.
Parihar has chosen to wear a helmet when operating the vehicle rather than contesting the challan in fear of receiving another one from the RTO.
Parihar was advised to wait till the Lok Sabha elections were over when he went to the RTO office and informed the officials of the inaccuracy.
“It is surprising how cops commit such acts despite claims of having technical surveillance systems in place. I will continue to wear the helmet till the matter gets resolved or else I may get another challan,” Parihar told the media.
Traffic inspector in Jhansi, Umakant Ojha, said, “It seems to be a clerical error because the photo in the challan is of a man riding a bike without a helmet but the vehicle number has been wrongly mentioned.”
Parihar, meantime, has gained attention on the highways for operating his high-end vehicle while donning a helmet.
