Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “put in jail whoever you want to” from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as he announced a march to the BJP headquarters on Sunday at 12 pm.
In an address broadcast live on AAP’s social media channels, Kejriwal accused the BJP of jailing all AAP leaders one by one. He went on to say that the BJP wants to crush the AAP by jailing its leaders.
Kejriwal’s broadcast came on the day of the arrest of Bibhav Kumar, his personal assistant (PA), for the alleged assault of AAP MP Swati Maliwal at Kejriwal’s residence while he was present in the house. While Kejriwal did not speak anything on the case, he mentioned Kumar’s arrest and clubbed him among the leaders of the party that he said have been jailed unfairly by the BJP.
“One after another, they are putting our leaders in jail. They put me in jail. They put Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Sanjay Singh in jail. Today, they put my PA in jail. Now, they are saying they’d put Ragha Chaddha in jail now that he is back from London. In some days, they are saying they’d jail Saurabh Bhardwaj Atishi,” said Kejriwal in Hindi.
‘Put in jail whoever you want to’: Kejriwal dares Modi
During his address, Kejriwal took on Modi directly and dared him to arrest “put in jail whoever you want to” during the party’s march to BJP HQ on Sunday.
“Tomorrow, at 12 pm, I am coming to BJP headquarters with all of my top leaders including MPs and MLAs. Put in jail whoever you want to arrest. Put all of them in jail at once,” said Kejriwal.
The AAP and its leaders, including convenor Kejriwal, have been embroiled in legal troubles. While Kejriwal, Sisodia, and Singh have been arrested and jailed in the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam case, Jain was arrested and jailed for a series of corruption and money laundering cases.
‘100 leaders will come up for every jailed AAP leader’
Kejriwal said that even though the BJP may try to break the AAP by jailing its leaders, every jailed leader will lead to the rise of 100 new leaders.
Kejriwal further said that the AAP was an ideology that had now taken root among the people across the country.
Addressing Modi, Kejriwal said, “You think that you can crush AAP by jailing its leaders. This is not how AAP will be crushed…For ever one jailed AAP leader, 100 more leaders will be created.”
Kejriwal further said that the AAP leaders were being jailed because they were doing good work for Delhi, such as improving government schools, setting up mohalla clinics, and ensuring 24-hours electricity, which the BJP cannot do.
Since they cannot do this, they are putting us jail, said Kejriwal.
