Govinda, a renowned Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader, shared first audio message for his fans from hospital where he was admitted on Tuesday morning after sustaining leg injuries which he received when his revolver accidentally went off at his Mumbai residence, while he was about to leave for the airport to set off for Kolkata.

‘Doing better now’

”With the blessings of my fans, my parents and god, I am doing better now. I was hit by a bullet, which has now been removed,” the 60-year-old said in an audio message.

“I thank the doctor here, Dr Agarwal ji. I thank all of you for your prayers,” he added.

Govinda was rushed to CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai after his licensed revolver misfired and a bullet hit his leg, police said.

No one has lodged any complaint in this matter, police said, adding they have begun an investigation into the matter.

The actor is out of danger and recuperating at his home, a Mumbai police official was quoted as saying by PTI.

How Govinda was hit by bullet

Govinda’s manager Shashi Sinha said that as the actor was about to leave home around 4.45 am on Tuesday for the airport to take a 6 am flight to Kolkata for a show, when the trigger of his licensed revolver was accidentally pushed as he was keeping it in the cupboard.

Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde speaks to Govinda

Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde spoke to Govinda and inquired about his health.

“I have personally reached out to Govinda to convey my deep concern about his health condition. On behalf of the government and people of our state, I wish him a swift and complete recovery,” Shinde said in a statement.

“I have assured Govinda that he and his family will receive all necessary support during this challenging time. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones,” the Maharashtra CM said.

According to ANI, the Maharashtra CMO said CM Shinde has also given instructions to the hospital authorities to take best care of Govinda and ensure his speedy recovery.

Govind Arun Ahuja, better known by his stage name Govinda, made his debut in films in 1986 with Love 86.

He has acted in more than 165 Hindi-language films and was last seen in 2019’s Rangeela Raja.

In March this year, ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Govinda joined Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, marking his re-entry into politics after nearly two decades.

Govinda had won the 2004 poll battle from the Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency on a Congress ticket before stepping away from politics in 2008.
