Following the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai-based apartment, the police now suspect that there may be more than one person involved in the stabbing, Times of India reported citing an official.

The knife attack left Khan injured in his neck, arm, and spine. He underwent surgery at Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital and was discharged, earlier this week.

Meanwhile, an accused named Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, alias Vijay Das, who is a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national, was arrested in connection with the attack.

As per the TOI report, the police cited the possibility of the involvement of more than one person in the incident, seeking Shariful’s custody, which a court granted till January 29. Moreover, authorities allege that Shariful has been uncooperative and reluctant to disclose where he acquired the weapon used in the crime.

The stabbing incident occurred in the early hours of January 16, when the accused sneaked into Saif Ali Khan’s Bandra West-based apartment. Reportedly, he demanded Rs one crore and engaged in a scuffle with one of the caretakers of the actor’s son- Jahangir Ali Khan.

Before fleeing away, he stabbed the actor multiple times. On Friday, Khan delivered his statement before the police, providing details on the incident.

Further probe is underway into the matter.
