Bengaluru AI engineer Atul Subhash died by suicide, earlier this month, leaving behind a 24-page long note alleging extortion and harassment against his estranged wife Nikita Singhania and her family.

Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, and brother Anurag Singhania were arrested in abetment to suicide case under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). At present, they are being investigated by the police.

Atul and Nikita had filed for divorce at a Jaunpur family court in Uttar Pradesh, where the former had alleged that the money which he used to send his wife was transferred to an account in the name of some RJ Siddique, as reported by R Bharat.

Now, the name of RJ Siddique has left the police scratching its head. In the family court, Atul had claimed that when he enquired Nikita about Siddique, she did not tell him.

He also alleged that his estranged wife celebrated their son’s birthday at Siddique’s residence. However, she had denied the allegations and said, “I don’t know any RJ Siddique. I have nothing to do with this”.

Parents seek Atul’s child custody

Atul’s father, Pawan Modi, have filed an FIR at the Vaini police station in Bihar’s Samastipur seeking recovery and custody of his two-year-old grandson. According to Nikita, the two-year-old is staying at her relative’s place in Faridabad.

As per a report by NDTV, the Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the case, demonstrating its seriousness. Notices have been sent to the DGPs of three states, including Uttar Pradesh, with a directive to recover the missing child and submit a report by January 7.
