The police on Wednesday night recreated the crime scene in the Mumbai Worli hit-and-run case. Both the accused, Mihir Shah and his driver Rajrishi Bidawat were taken to the spot.

During the interrogation, Mihir confessed that he had committed a huge crime. “I have made a big mistake, my career is over,” he said.

Sources to News18 in Mumbai Police said cops stating that they do not fully trust the statements of both of the accused and that their statements are being verified.

During the investigation, Mumbai Police has found that Mihir consumed alcohol at a place between Borivali and Malad after drinking at a bar in Juhu.

Police further said Mihir forced the driver Rajrishi to get off driving seat and began driving the car himself.

At 23, why Mihir Shah was served liquor in Juhu pub?

In Maharashtra, the legal drinking age is 25, but Mihir Shah, a key accused in Mumbai hit-and-run was served liquor in a pub at Juhu’s Tara Road despite being 23 years old. Action has been taken against the bar – it has been sealed and the BMC has demolished “illegal portions” of the place. However, there is a pertinent question doing rounds as to why the Shiv Sena leader’s son was served alcohol.

A report by NDTV quoted sources as saying that Mihir Shah has allegedly showed an identity proof that mentioned his age as 27-year-old at Vice-Global Tapas Bar in Juhu suburb of Mumbai where he had gone with his friends on Saturday (July 6) evening and left around 1:30 am on Sunday.

The accident in Worli for which he is being accused of took place around 5 am on July 7, less than four hours after he consumed alcohol with his friends.

The report mentioned the pub management claiming that Mihir Shah showed them the identity card which mentioned he was 27 years old after which he was allowed to enter. His friends, who accompanied him to the bar, are over 30 years old.

Mihir Shah & friends gulped down 12 large pegs of whiskey

The Times of India in a report mentioned that based on the bill paid, excise officials alleged that Mihir and his friends had consumed 12 large pegs of whiskey in the Juhu pub – around four pegs each.

This amount of alcohol can keep one intoxicated for about eight hours, the report quoted excise officials as saying.

Mumbai hit-and-run case

Mihir fled from the spot within minutes after he rammed a couple on a two-wheeler with his BMW in the early hours of Sunday (July 7), killing 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa, who was returning with her husband after buying fish to sell during the day.

He was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Kaveri came under the wheels and was dragged for 1.5 kilometres, while her husband Pradeep Nakhwa Pradeep flung off the bonnet after being hit by the car.

As per the investigation, Mihir then switched seats with Rajrishi who reversed the car over Kaveri before speeding away. They then went to Kala Nagar in Bandra and started taking off the number plate to avoid being caught.

In Borivali, Mihir met his mother, Meena and two sisters – Puja and Kinjal. He also met his friend Avdeep and they all left for a resort in Shahpur, about 70 km from Mumbai.

They could manage to hide till Monday morning before Avdeep switched on his phone for 15 minutes, revealing his location. This helped police to arrest him.
