As suspense over AAP MP Swati Maliwal’s alleged assault grows, her ex-husband Naveen Jaihind has claimed that there is a threat to her life.

Jaihind’s comments come hours after Aam Aadmi Party’s
Sanjay Singh
on Tuesday admitted assault against Maliwal by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s close aide and former personal assistant Bibhav Kumar.

What did Maliwal’s ex-husband say?

Jaihind posted a video on X to clarify his stand on the matter. Before making the claims, the former AAP leader said that he and Maliwal have not been in touch since four years after their divorce.

“Whatever happened with Swati Maliwal is part of a big conspiracy and there is danger to her life,” Jaihind said.

Reacting to Sanjay Singh’s comments, Jaihind said, “Why are you acting MP Sanjay Singh? You know the whole incident, right? You already knew what was going to happen. The attack was a conspiracy. Swati’s life is in danger. You know that right? Now you are trying to intimidate her into silence.”

Maliwal has not yet made an official statement on her assault and according to Delhi Police, she has not registered an FIR on the issue.

Directing the rest of his message to his ex-wife, Jaihind said, “You have fought for so many women throughout your life. You should not be scared of them (AAP) and raise your voice against those who attacked you. We are all here to support you.”

The case so far

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday admitted that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s former personal assistant Bibhav Kumar “misbehaved” with Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP and the former chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

During a press conference, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “Yesterday, a condemnable incident took place. Swati Maliwal had gone to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to meet him. While she was waiting for him in the drawing room, Vaibhav Kumar allegedly misbehaved with her. The CM has taken cognisance of the matter, and he will take appropriate action.”

The
Delhi Police
on Monday said that they had received a PCR call from Maliwal, alleging that she was assaulted by Kumar at the chief minister’s residence in Civil Lines.

A copy of the police entry shows that the caller said that the chief minister instructed Kumar to hit her.
