After three UPSC aspirants tragically lost their lives in a flooded basement at the Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar, Delhi Minister Atishi on Wednesday announced that the AAP government will soon bring out a law to regulate the infrastructure of coaching centres.

The dismal state of the buildings of training centres in the capital city has come into the spotlight with many students, teachers and parents demanding justice and better facilities for aspirants.

In a press conference, Atishi said that the basements of 30 other coaching centres have been sealed while 200 more such institutes that have been conducting classes illegally have been served notice. Among the coaching centres whose basements have been sealed are Drishti IAS, Vajiram, Sriram IAS, Sanskriti Academy, and IAS Gurukul.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Chief Secretary submitted the Magisterial Enquiry report to Atishi on Tuesday that shed light on the condition of the coaching centre where the three students died.

The Delhi High Court will hear hear a plea seeking a high-level committee probe on the coaching centre mishap today.

Illegal classes, encroached drainage system and more

Atishi on Wednesday, listed out how the Rau’s IAS Study Circle flouted norms. Here’s what the preliminary inquiry reports reveal:

Who has been arrested so far?

The deaths of three students – Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Nevin Dalwin from Kerala – have triggered a massive uproar among people with the Bharatiya Janata Party blaming the ruling Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi over negligence.

So far, the Delhi Police have arrested seven people in connection to the case, including the driver of an SUV car who drove through the flooded road of Old Rajinder Nagar where the accident occurred.

Among the others who have been arrested in the case are the four basement owners, Rau Coaching Centre’s CEO and his coordinator.
