In its first reaction since yesterday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday admitted that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s former personal assistant Bibhav Kumar “misbehaved” with Swati Maliwal, a Rajya Sabha MP and the former chief of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW).

During a press conference, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said, “Yesterday, a condemnable incident took place. Swati Maliwal had gone to Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to meet him. While she was waiting for him in the drawing room, Vaibhav Kumar allegedly misbehaved with her. The CM has taken cognisance of the matter, and he will take appropriate action.”

The Delhi Police on Monday said that they had received a PCR call from Maliwal, alleging that she was assaulted by Kumar at the chief minister’s residence in Civil Lines.

A copy of the police entry shows that the caller said that the chief minister instructed Kumar to hit her.

“We received a PCR call at 9:34 AM wherein the caller said that she has been assaulted inside the CM residence. Accordingly, local police & SHO responded to the call. After some time, MP Swati Maliwal came to the police station civil lines. No complaint was given by her. In this matter, no complaint has been received till now,” DCP (North) Manoj Meena had said.
