The Delhi Police on Monday summoned Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s doctored video case.

The Congress leader has been asked to appear before the Intelligence Fusion & Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit with his phone on May 1. Reddy’s phone was allegedly used to post Shah’s tailored video where he can be heard vowing to scrap all reservations after coming to power for the third time.

Along with Reddy, five other members of the Telangana Congress have been sent notices by the Delhi Police.

The Delhi Police on Sunday registered an
FIR
over the circulation of the fake video. Sections 153, 153A, 465, 469, 171G of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 66C of the Information Technology (IT) Act have been invoked and a probe has been launched over the case.

Soon after the video started making rounds on the internet, BJP’s Amit Malviya blamed Congress for circulating the video.

Meanwhile, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Special Cell has now approached social media platforms to identify the source of the video and those who have spread it.

“We have formed many teams to investigate the matter properly and arrest the main culprits. We have written to X, formerly known as Twitter, and other social media platforms regarding the video. We are investigating both the source of the video and those responsible for its widespread circulation,” said another source.

Assam police make first arrest

The Assam police made the first arrest in the Amit Shah doctored video case on Monday.

A Reetom Singh has been arrested over his link to the case.

What did the video show?

The viral video shows Shah saying, “If the BJP government is formed, we will scrap the unconstitutional Muslim reservation. The SC, ST and OBC communities of Telangana deserve this opportunity and they will be awarded the same by ending the Muslim reservation.”

The clip is part of a longer video of a speech delivered by the Home Minister.
