While addressing an election rally in Rajasthan’s Barmer, PM Narendra Modi said the boundaries of the country do not end but start from the border villages. PM Modi said his government will ensure the building of roads and highways till the last border of the country.

PM Modi also held a rally in J&K Udhampur on Friday as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will commence on April 18 in seven phases. Rajasthan will vote in two phases, April 19 and April 16 on 25 seats of Lok Sabha.

Here are 5 highlights from PM Modi’s Barmer rally

1. While launching an attack on the Congress party’s six-year-long tenure in the state PM Modi said, “The land of Rajasthan that has sacrificed so much for India has been deprived of water by the Congress party for decades.” He added that the BJP government prioritised drinking water for all through the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’.

2. PM Modi said the government is working to eradicate sickle cell anemia from the tribal communities. “Modi worships those people whom Congress did not ask for decades. We are opening Ekalavya Model Residential School so that the children of our tribal society can progress,” he added.

3. Accusing Congress of discriminating against SC-ST and OBC communities and spreading rumours about the Constitution, PM Modi said, “Congress denied Babasaheb Ambedkar the Bharat Ratna and imposed the National Emergency, stifling the freedoms of Indian citizens should be the last one to speak on India’s Constitution.”

4. Saying that INDI alliance only aims to weaken India’s territorial integrity and security, PM Modi added, “The land of Pokhran which made India nuclear power, now the INDI Alliance says that we will destroy the nuclear weapons of India. For a country like India, which has two neighbours possessing nuclear weapons, the INDI Alliance wants to destroy the nuclear weapons of India.”

5. Modi said he is prioritising development in border areas of the country. “The BJP government is building roads and highways till the last border of the country. We have also opened a medical college in Barmer. Today, a refinery costing Rs 72,000 crore is going to be started in border town of Barmer. In the coming time, employment opportunities will be created in this area and new paths will be created for the youth,” he added.
