In a criminal case brought by female wrestlers, a Delhi court on Tuesday outlined accusations against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for sexual harassment, intimidation, and insulting women’s modesty.

Singh entered a not guilty plea and requested a trial.

“Why will I plead guilty when I am not guilty?” Singh said. The court also framed the charge of criminal intimidation against co-accused and former WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar in the case. Singh, the sitting BJP MP from Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh, was denied ticket to contest the Lok Sabha poll in the aftermath of the sexual harassment allegations against him.

The party has fielded his son Karan Bhushan Singh for the seat.

Meanwhile, former president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Singh declared on Tuesday that more votes will be cast for his party as a result of the accusations made against him.

“Brij Bhushan Singh is the only issue in Kaisarganj,” he continued.

“We will get more votes owing to those allegations,” Singh told the media.
