French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou was robbed off his mobile phone when he had gone to visit Delhi’s famous Chandni Chowk market with his wife on October 20.
A report by PTI quoted a senior police officer as saying that the information about French Ambassador Mathou’s mobile phone getting stolen was received on October 21 from the embassy.
Following the complaint, police swung into action and checked CCTVs installed in the market. Also a team of cops was formed to find the culprit.
Four people, all aged between 20 and 25 years, have been arrested and French Ambassador Mathou’s mobile phone was also recovered from them, police confirmed.
The accused are residents of the trans-Yamuna area and further investigation is underway, the senior police officer added.
