Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by ED in Delhi liquor policy money laundering case. He is currently in judicial custody till April 15 in the Tihar jail. Besides his arrest, the AAP leader challenged his subsequent remand in ED custody in the case. CM Kejriwal is likely to move the Supreme Court against the Delhi HC order dismissing his plea challenging ED arrest.

The court said Kejriwal’s arrest by the central agency not in contravention of legal provisions. “The court is of the view that the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal was not in contravention of legal provisions. The remand can’t be held to be illegal,” said Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma while delivering the verdict.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, hours after the high court refused to grant him protection from coercive action by the federal anti-money laundering agency.
