An attempt is being made to frame the family driver of the Agarwals to save the teenager accused of driving a Porsche Taycan into two people, while under the influence of alcohol on Sunday (May 19).

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said: “It is true that at the start the family driver had said that he was behind the wheel. We are investigating this part also under whose pressure the driver made that statement we are investigating it.”

“Effort was made to change the driver during that period. We are investigating this also,” Kumar said.

Refuting the reports that the Porsche Taycan, involved in the Pune road accident, was being driven by the family driver, the senior police officer said they have video footage to prove that the 17-year-old boy was driving the car at the time of the crash.

The Commissioner of Police also confirmed that the parents of the accused teen had given him the keys of the car involved in the accident.

The senior police officer further said that the authorities are looking into the possibility of external pressure influencing the driver’s initial account.

Boy was in senses, had full knowledge of his conduct

CP Amitesh Kumar said that their case against the minor accused is not solely dependent on the blood report but they have other evidence, including CCTV footage of him drinking with his friends in a pub.

“We have CCTV footage of him drinking liquor in the pub. The point of saying this is that our case is not alone depending on the blood report we have other evidence too. He (the minor accused) was in his senses. It was not as if all of them were so drunk that they could not understand anything. They had full knowledge that due to their conduct, an incident like section 304 can take place,” the senior police officer said.

“We have not received the blood report yet. The blood report was taken at the very first and sent to the forensic. We have requested the forensic to take a DNA sample of both the samples,” he said.

The police officer also said nothing has been found in the investigation that substantiates the allegations of the minor being given preferential treatment.

“If we receive any information that the eyewitness had to face any trouble, action will be taken against those police personnel as well,” he said.

Making Pune Porsche crash incident a watertight case

The Pune Police Commissioner also said the cops are trying to make a watertight case against the minor who was allegedly involved in the Porsche crash.

“We are making a watertight case. Over the allegations of any preferential treatment given to Minor an ACP rank officer is investigating the allegation. The victim will get justice and the accused will be punished,” he further said.

The Police Commissioner also informed that the cops have started the process of appointing a special counsel in the case to present their case “strongly” in court. “Police have a very stringent approach on how to handle this case,” he added.
