The Indian embassy in the UAE has advised Indian passengers travelling to or transiting through Dubai International Airport to “reschedule non-essential travel” till operations normalises in the city that witnessed unprecedented rains leading to floods earlier this week.

In a advisory issued on Friday, Indian embassy in Abu Dhabi said: “Due to disruption caused by unprecedented weather conditions in the UAE earlier this week, Dubai International Airport has temporarily limited the number of inbound flights.”

“Inbound Indian passengers travelling to or transiting through Dubai International Airport are advised to reschedule non-essential travel till operations normalise,” the advisory said.

The embassy, in the advisory, further said the UAE authorities are working “round the clock” to ensure normalisation of operation.

Meanwhile, the Airport Authorities in Dubai have been advised the passengers may travel to the airport “only after final confirmation from the respective airlines regarding the departure date and time of flights.”

“To assist Indian nationals at the Dubai International Airport, the Consulate General of India in Dubai has operationalised emergency helpline numbers which have been functional since April 17,” the statement said.

The helpline numbers have been issued to help Indians stranded in Dubai after the calamity.

The United Arab Emirates has been trying to bounce back after receiving record-setting rains this week which has caused massive flooding in Dubai and surrounding areas.

The runways of Dubai International Airport were submerged, resulting in the cancellation of flights. The downpour was the heaviest experienced by the UAE in the 75 years that records have been kept.
