Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday took a jibe at the Aam Aadmi Party government in Delhi saying that it is registering Bangladeshi infiltrators as voters in the national capital ahead of the assembly elections.
In an exclusive interview with News18,
Yogi said, “There is a big difference between UP’s Bharatiya Janata Party government and Delhi’s AAP government. They are turning Bangladeshi infiltrators into voters for their political gains while we have made UP the biggest investment hub in India and given employment to thousands of youth.”
“BJP is investing in new technology and the AAP-led Delhi is investing in Bangladeshi infiltrators,” he added.
The chief minister highlighted the condition of the Yamuna river that flows in Delhi and brought attention to how differently the river is managed by the AAP government in the national capital and the BJP government in UP.
“In UP’s Yamuna you can take a bath but taking a dip in Delhi’s Yamuna is not possible. The AAP government in Delhi has betrayed the country and residents of the capital city. They have turned Yamuna into a sewer,” he said.
The Yamuna River has become a focal point in the Delhi elections after the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government failed to clean it after promising that it would. The opposition BJP has raised the issue multiple times saying that the party will ensure that the river is cleaned within three years of coming to power in the national capital.
Yogi also talked about Delhi’s much-boasted education model and said, “If their education minister comes to Uttar Pradesh, they will learn from us. The education budget here is as much as the entire budget of Delhi. Delhi’s budget is Rs 78,000–80,000 crores, while Uttar Pradesh’s education budget alone is Rs 1 crore to ?1.2 crores.”
When asked about the Opposition’s narrative that the NDA-led central government is misusing the Constitution, Yogi said, “The INDI Alliance carried out significant misinformation campaigns funded by foreign money. They spread propaganda about the Constitution being changed and reservations being abolished. Using social media as their tool, they misled the public. However, after the elections, the public realized the truth.”
“In Haryana, BJP successfully formed the government in the assembly elections. Similarly, in Maharashtra, the NDA managed to form a government in the assembly. In Uttar Pradesh, out of 9 seats, BJP won 7, and the India Alliance was limited to just 2. The public has understood their reality,” he added.
With the Delhi elections slated for February 5, the AAP and BJP alike have launched a slew of welfare schemes for people of the national capital including monetary assistance for women, free electricity, etc.
Regarding this, the chief minister said, “I believe we need to work with a long-term vision. There is nothing wrong with implementing welfare schemes, but it would be better if they are performance-based.”
“The world has faced significant crises, and during the pandemic, India stood out as the only stable economy. India has given the message of karma (action) to the world. This stability must be maintained; otherwise, it won’t take long for things to falter. Welfare schemes should be implemented based on performance criteria.”
