Days after the Election Commission of India announced the dates for the Assembly Election in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference on Monday released its manifesto.
Releasing the manifesto at the party headquarters in Srinagar, NC Vice President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that the party will not get into any alliance with the BJP in case the election throws a hung mandate
Abdullah said the party was surprised to see people coming up with their suggestions through emails and messages from across Jammu and Kashmir for the manifesto.
“We discussed those suggestions and tried to include them in the manifesto,” he added.
Here’s a look at what’s in the manifesto:
Abdullah said this was not only a manifesto but an agenda of the party about government.
“This manifesto will be unlike the manifesto of those parties which called for Badlaav and agenda. But a manifesto which will be worked upon after the NC forms the government,” Omar said in an apparent dig at the PDP over the latter’s alliance with the BJP in 2014 which culminated in the saffron party withdrawing from the coalition in 2018 and the subsequent abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019.
The three-phase elections to the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will be held on September 18, September 25 and October 1. The results will be declared on October 4.
