The counselling for NEET-UG, which was supposed to take place on July 6 (Saturday), has been deferred until further notice.

The announcement of the postponement of NEET UG all-India quota (AIQ) seat counselling comes after the Supreme Court refused to delay the process amid the row.

The new dates for the counselling session will be announced soon by the Ministry of Education.

Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA), the body responsible for holding the NEET-UG exams, told the apex court that the counselling session would be held on July 6. However, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) did not share the details of the counselling session.

The NEET-UG exams have been embroiled in controversy with many alleging mismanagement, irregularities and paper leaks. Authorities have swung into action to rectify the situation by holding re-exams and arresting those involved in leaking question papers.

Meanwhile, the results of the
NEET-UG re-test
were announced last month and the topper tally came down to 61 from 67.

As many as 60 per cent of the 813 students who appeared for the re-examination, however, have improved their scores sans grace marks. Most of these students got a score of above 680. None of these students were able to match their scores to what they had achieved with grace marks.

Also, the exam dates of
NEET-PG
, which were cancelled in the apprehension of the ongoing controversy, were announced on Friday. The exams will be held on August 11 in two shifts.
