Shortly after assuming office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that he has no intention of turning Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) into a power centre as it was envisaged 10 years ago, and rather he has preferred to develop it as a catalytic agent which works for the welfare of people.
Addressing the PMO officials in his first speech after assuming office for the third time, PM Modi said, “10 years ago the image in our country was that PMO is a power centre, a very big power centre and I was not born for power. I do not think of acquiring power. For me, it is neither my wish nor my path that PMO should become a power centre.”
Since 2014, he said, his government has taken steps to develop it as a catalytic agent.
“…PMO should be people’s PMO and it cannot be Modi’s PMO…,” said the Prime Minister.
He reminded his team that they just have one goal, which is Nation First, and have one intention, which is Viksit Bharat by 2047.
“…Together we have just one goal -Nation First; just one intention – 2047 Viksit Bharat. I have said this publically, Mera Pal Pal Desh Ke Naam Hai. I have also promised the country – 24/7 for 2047. I have such expectations from the team…”
Talking about what he expects from his team, he said that the officials should not be bound by time and those who are beyond this are my team and the country trusts that team.
“We are not those people for whom office starts at this time and ends at this time. We are not those people, we are not bound by time, we have no limits to our thinking, and we have no criteria for our efforts. Those who are beyond this are my team and the country trusts that team,” said PM Modi.
Sharing his vision for the future, he said his obligation now is to think more than what he thought in 10 years and to do more than what he did in 10 years.
“…What has to be done now, is to be done towards the direction of crossing the global benchmark. What we were yesterday and how well we did today – that time has gone by…If the world is at a stage beyond which there is nothing else, we have to be there. We have to take our country where nobody else reached…,” added the PM.
He said for India and its people to achieve desired results, clarity of thoughts, faith in conviction and character to act are very important.
“When we work, things things are very essential, and if we have these three things, then I don’t believe that failure will be seen anywhere. And when I say three things – Clarity of Thoughts, as far as the government is concerned, I believe that there is no confusion. It knows it has to go this way and it has to be achieved. Such clarity of thought is the first requirement for the success of any work,” he said.
He added, “Faith in Conviction- whatever I am listening to, whatever I am being told, I should not have disbelief in it… Character to Act- I have to mould my personality in such a way. I have to prioritise and devote myself to making the most of my time on that work….”
Talking about the secret of his energy, he said that he keeps his inner student alive throughout and the person who keeps the student alive within him is never powerless, never weak and never lazy.
“A successful person is the one whose inner student never dies. Many people have asked me this question in this election and for the last 30 years, I am asked where do I get so much energy…The secret of my energy is that I keep the inner student alive throughout and the person who keeps the student alive within him is never powerless, never weak and never lazy. He is always full of energy,” added the PM.
He also attributed the success of his government to the efforts of every government employee during his 10 years tenure as the Prime Minister.
“…These elections are not a stamp on the speeches of Modi, these elections are a stamp on the efforts of every government employee in 10 years. So, if someone is entitled to this victory, it is you. Every employee of the Government of India is truly entitled to this victory – who left no stone unturned to give themselves in for a vision…I want to go ahead with a new energy, a new courage. I was not born to stop.”
Earlier in the day, PM Modi took charge as the Prime Minister for the third term and signed his first file authorising the release of 17th installment of the ’PM Kisan Nidhi’ funds amounting to nearly Rs 20,000 crore, which is likely to benefit around 9.3 crore farmers.
PM Modi was sworn in as prime minister on Sunday for a record-equalling third term, heading a 72-member Union Council of Ministers.
“Ours is a government fully committed to ’kisan kalyan’ (farmers’ welfare). It is, therefore, fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to it. We want to keep working even more for farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come,” PTI quoted PM Modi as saying.
