Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Friday (August 2) took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to claim that an Enforcement Directorate raid is being planned against him.

The Congress leader said that the raid was set to happen in the aftermath of his ‘chakravyuh’ speech in Parliament, which “2 in 1” did not like.

“Apparently, 2 in 1 didn’t like my Chakravyuh speech. ED ‘insiders’ tell me a raid is being planned,” Rahul Gandhi said in his short post that came early on Friday.

“Waiting with open arms @dir_ed ..Chai and biscuits on me,” he added.

The speech that Rahul Gandhi is referring to was made on Monday (July 29). In that speech, he used the chakravyuh mentioned in the Mahabharat legend to claim that there is an atmosphere of fear in the country. He alleged that a group of six people have trapped the entire country in a ‘chakravyuh’.

Thousands of years ago in Haryana’s Kurukshetra, six people killed a youth, Abhimanyu, in a ‘chakravyuh’, he had said, adding that a ‘chakravyuh’ has violence and fear.

The chakravyuh is understood to be a multi-layered military formation that seeks to trap an opponent by placing one’s forces in an alignment resembling a lotus-shaped labyrinth

Referring to that lotus bit, Rahul Gandhi had said the ‘chakravyuh’ is also called a ‘padmavyuh’ for its resemblance to a lotus– BJP’s well-known party symbol.

The former Congress chief also promised that this chakravyuh would be broken by the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).

Participating in the debate in the Lok Sabha on Budget 2024-25, Gandhi had said the INDIA bloc will ensure that a legal guarantee for MSP as well as a caste census is passed by the House.
