The countdown for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 has started and political parties are leaving no stones unturned to woo voters. The BJP, Congress and several other national parties are holding roadshows, campaigns to reach out to electorates who will decided their fate in the upcoming poll.

As part of the election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a rally in Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh where voting will be held in a single phase on April 19.

During the election rally in Rishikesh, PM Modi took a jibe at the Opposition and asked the people of Uttarakhand to give a befitting reply to Congress for talking about eliminating “Shakti” which is symbolised by the revered goddesses of Uttarakhand – Maa Dhari Devi and Jwalpa Devi.

Here’s 5 key takeaways from PM Modi’s political rally in Uttarakhand’s Rishikesh

1 – “Whenever we have had a weak government in the country, our enemies have taken advantage. Under this strong government, atankwaadiyon ko ghar mein ghus ke mara jata hai (our forces are killing terrorists on their own turf),” the prime minister

2 – The prime minister further shared the plight of soldiers during the Congress regime, and said: “Under the Congress, soldiers lacked basic protective gear such as bulletproof jackets, leaving them vulnerable to enemy bullets. It’s the BJP that prioritised their safety, providing Indian-made bulletproof jackets. Today, thanks to the BJP, India manufactures modern rifles, fighter planes, and aircraft carriers domestically. Unlike the weak Congress government, BJP has developed modern infrastructure along the borders, including roads and tunnels, ensuring security and progress.”

3 – Hitting out at the Congress, PM Modi said: “Congress is against development and legacy.” He further said that the party raised questions on the existence of Lord Ram, opposed the Ram Temple and created many obstacles. Despite all these, Congress was invited for the consecration of Ram Mandir, but they boycotted that too.

4 – “The leaders of Congress first prioritise the ‘royal family’ of Delhi and then their own family, but for Modi, India is his family,” the PM said, intensifying his attack on the Opposition party.

5 – The Prime Minister, further told the gathering, when Congress was in power, middlemen used to “eat up” the money meant for people.

“Now Modi has stopped this loot and the money of people is being transferred directly to their bank accounts. And it is because of this reason the Opposition is immensely angry with me,” he said.
