Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani was admitted to AIIMS Delhi late on Wednesday night.

“He is stable and under observation,” PTI quoted a source as saying.

The 96-year-old former deputy prime minister has been admitted in the old private ward of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and is learnt to being treated by doctors from the Department of Urology.

However, there was no immediate clarity on his ailment.

LK Advani served as the deputy prime minister of India from June 2002 to May 2004 and as the Union Home Minister from October 1999 to May 2004. He was BJP president multiple times – from 1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998 and 2004 to 2005.

He was conferred conferred with the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour three months ago. President Droupadi Murmu had presented the Bharat Ratna to Advani at his residence in Delhi.
