A speeding car hit a woman in Pune city of Maharashtra leaving her injured. The accident took place when she was walking on a roadside and the four-wheeler veered off the road, hitting her.
Pune Police said the accident occurred on June 12 in Hinjawadi area of Pimpri Chinchwad. The CCTV footage, which surfaced on social media, the woman getting flung into the air after being hit by the car before falling some distance away.
Bystanders rushed to help the woman as she lay motionless on the road.
Cops said the injured woman was rushed to a hospital by the driver of the car himself, and she is currently undergoing treatment.
“In an accident with a white Wagon R, the victim Rekha was injured. She is stable now. The accused, who is a 24-year-old, has been taken into custody and the car seized,” Pimpri-Chinchwad DCP Shivaji Pawar was quoted as saying by PTI.
The senior police officer also confirmed that the driver of the car was not drunk and that prime facie, it appeared that he lost control of the vehicle.
The incident comes nearly a month after a 17-year-old boy driving his unregistered Porsche Taycan in a drunken state hit two IT professionals, instantly killing them in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area.
