The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Monday.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is on a two-day India visit at the invitation of PM Modi.

He arrived in New Delhi on Sunday (September 8) and was received by Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.

On the first day of his visit, on September 9, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is expected to hold discussions with PM Modi on a wide range of areas of bilateral cooperation, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is on his first visit to India as the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, is also scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu on Monday. He will also visit Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

After wrapping up his stay in Delhi, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi will leave for Mumbai where, on September 10, he will participate in a Business Forum, in which business leaders from both countries will be participating.

The visit of the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi will further bolster the strong ties between India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and also open avenues for partnership in new and emerging areas, the MEA said.

India-UAE ties

As the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi begins his historic maiden visit to India, here’s a look at India-UAE ties.

1 – India is one of the largest trading partners of the UAE, with a bilateral trade of nearly $85 billion in 2022-23.

2 – As per the World Migration Report 2024, India and UAE migration ranks as the fourth-largest migration corridor in the world.

3 – Indians make up the largest community in UAE with nearly 3.5 million people working in major sectors including construction, hospitality, security, domestic work, and retail.

4 – UAE is one of the top four investors in India in the form of foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2022-23.

5 – As per the MEA, India and UAE share historically close and friendly ties and in the recent years, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and UAE has deepened in a wide range of areas including political, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, technology, education, and culture

6 – In February 2023, both India and the UAE supported each other in forming trilateral agreements with India-UAE-France (UFI).

7 – In May 2023, UAE joined SCO as a dialogue partner and also joined the BRICS nation partnership with India’s support.
