Lok Sabha elections 2024 will begin in less than a week. While political parties are reaching out to electorates, several initiaties are being taken to promote awareness among voters and highlighting the importance of casting a ballot.

A viral video shows, a creative initiative by a group of scuba divers in Tamil Nadu’s Chennai diving 60 feet underwater into the depths of the off Neelankarai to aware eligible voters importance of exercising their rights.

In the video, the divers showed the voting process in a unique and innovative matter as they carried a mock Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and displayed placards on voting awareness below the surface, under the water.

The programme was organised by SB Aravind Tharunsri, a scuba dive instructor and director at Temple Adventure.

“Ready to vote? Make a splash! In a unique voter awareness initiative, scuba divers in Chennai dove into the sea, enacting the voting process sixty feet underwater in Neelankarai,” the Election Commission of India (ECI) said in a post on X, sharing the trending video.

The ECI has been making all efforts to ensure citizens are informed and engaged in the democratic process.
