Almost a week after bomb threats rattled about 100 schools in Delhi, several schools in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad on Monday received similar emails threatening, causing panic among staff and parents.

The police rushed to the schools that received the threats and an investigation is underway. The emails were reportedly sent from a Russian domain “mail.ru,” the same one that was used to send the bomb threats to the Delhi schools.

The Ahmedabad schools that received the threats include DPS and Anand Niketan. No suspicious activity or bombs have been found on the school premises yet.

The bomb threats that created huge panic in multiple schools across Delhi reportedly originated from a server located in Russia. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena last Wednesday said that Delhi Police was able to trace the email address used to send the threatening messages to almost 100 schools.

Sources revealed that all the schools received the threat emails from a single IP address. In fact, all the schools received the same email, the screenshots of which have been making rounds on social media.

A police officer, meanwhile, said that the email ID used to send the threat emails to the schools in Delhi-NCR was ‘[email protected].’ ‘Swarim’ is an Arabic word that has been used extensively by the Islamic State (IS) in their propaganda videos.

The officer also said that the email contained verses from the Quran.
