External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar said there are large number of terrorists in Pakistan and terrorism is the industry the country has created.

In an interview with the Economic Times, Jaishakar was asked how he would respond to the reports of alleged Indian involvement in the killing of wanted terrorists in Pakistan as well as other countries.

To this, Jaishankar said: “Terrorists are there in large numbers in Pakistan, so statistically, things will happen to them. It’s an industry they have created.”

Pakistan being warned for long

The India’s foreign minister further said, “People have been warning Pakistan for a long time. Forget India. Hillary Clinton very publicly warned Pakistan. If you have a cast of characters like this, I guess some things are a natural outcome of that.”

On April 5, a report was published by UK-based newspaper – The Guardian – which stated that the Indian government carried out targeted assassination in Pakistan.

The report claimed that documents shared by some Pakistani investigators as well as officials from India and Pakistan have indicated how the Indian government carried out targeted killings post 2019 Pulwama terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir under the supervision of India’s intelligence agency RAW (Research and Analysis Wing).

The report in the British daily newspaper further claimed India carrying out as many as 20 killings in Pakistan dating back to 2020 and continued until as recently as 2023.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had denied allegations and called The Guardian report “false and malicious anti-India propaganda”.

The MEA also had underlined a previous statement by Jaishankar in which he said targeted killings in other countries were “not the policy of the government of India.”
