Bengaluru-based Dynamatic Technologies has bagged a contract from France-based Airbus for manufacturing all the doors of its narrow-body A220 family of aircraft.

The development is seen as a significant step in the expansion of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

For the unversed, Dynamatic Technologies, an Indian aviation parts maker, already manufactures the Flap Track Beam of Airbus A320 and A330 Family aircraft.

The deal was announced at a function on Thursday, which was also attended by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State (MoS) Civil Aviation, Gen. VK Singh.

The financial details were yet to be disclosed.

According to the President of Airbus India, Remi Maillard, this is one of the single-largest export contracts for an Indian aerospace manufacturing company.

Dynamatic Technologies would deliver the first doors to Airbus early next year, a report by Reuters quoted the company’s CEO Udayant Malhoutra as saying.

The announcement of the deed sent Dynamatic’s shares to a record high of 7,780 rupees.

Notably, it is the second door contract awarded by Airbus to an Indian supplier.

In 2023, Airbus gave the contract for the manufacturing of bulk and cargo doors of the A320 family of aircraft to Tata Advanced Systems Ltd.

‘Indian aerospace manufacturing scales new heights!’

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Scindia said the deal between Airbus and Dynamatic Technologies “is one of the single-largest export contracts for an Indian aerospace manufacturing company.”

“The step will go a long way in bringing the complete aircraft door making technology to the Indian aerospace ecosystem,” the minister said.

“This is a stellar example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make In India vision translating into huge growth and employment dividends for the nation,” Scindia said.

The minister further said for the first time, every Airbus commercial aircraft and every Airbus helicopter have critical technologies and systems designed, manufactured and maintained in India.

“With this and in the near future, Airbus will double its procurement from India from UD$750 million to UD$1.5 billion,” he said.
