The Outstanding Achievement Special Indian of the Year 2023 award has been awarded to Team ISRO. Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh presented the award to ISRO Chairman S Somanath and Chandrayaan-3 project director P Veeramuthuvel on Wednesday.

“The whole space sector is now unfurled out in terms of the long-term vision for the next 25 years. This is the support and I can’t ask for more,” said Somanath, while thanking the minister as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

INSAT had an excellent 2023. The space agency’s lunar craft Chandrayaan-3 created history by being the first to settle close to the lunar south pole, and it also successfully performed a soft landing on the moon.

Another incredible accomplishment was the arrival of ISRO’s Aditya-L1 at Lagrange Point 1, where it would be able to observe the sun continually. Currently, ISRO is concentrating on India’s manned spaceflight program, Gaganyaan.

The CNN-News18 Indian of the Year program, now in its 13th year, honors Indians who have made noteworthy contributions to a variety of professions and who have had a significant influence on the country.
