On Saturday, 58 seats spread across six states and two union territories are going to polls. The Election Commission has taken all necessary preparations to guarantee a peaceful and orderly voting process.
Eight seats in Bihar, all 10 in Haryana, one in Jammu and Kashmir, four in Jharkhand, all seven in Delhi, six in Odisha, 14 in Uttar Pradesh, and eight in West Bengal are up for election in the sixth round of the Lok Sabha elections. There are 889 contenders in the running.
In Odisha, 42 assembly seats are also going to polls. Statewide assembly elections are taking place in tandem with the Lok Sabha elections.
In this phase, elections are scheduled for all of Delhi’s and Haryana’s parliamentary seats. Manohar Lal Khattar and Mehbooba Mufti, two former chief ministers, are among the well-known contenders.
According to the Election Commission of India, about 11.13 crore individuals are eligible to vote in this phase of voting, which is taking place at 1.14 lakh polling places spread over 58 seats. There are 5.84 crore males, 5.29 crore women, and 5120 electors of the third gender in total.
