This assembly of leaders showcases the federal structure of India with each minister representing different regions and states. The event not only highlights the continuity of Modi’s leadership but also showcased the inclusion of new faces and the strategic placement of experienced leaders in key positions. As the ministers take their oaths, the ceremony is a testament to the government’s commitment to governance, development and the representation of India’s vast demographic and regional diversity. This moment also set the tone for the government’s agenda and priorities reflecting the vision and goals set forth by Prime Minister Modi for the next phase of his administration.

Gujarat

1. Amit Shah

Born on October 22, 1964, Amit Shah was the 31st Home Minister of India since 2019 and the first Minister of Cooperation since 2021.

In 2024, Shah won the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Gujarat’s Gandhinagar seat with a margin of over 7.4 lakh votes against opponent Congress candidate Sonal Patel.

He was the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from 2014 to 2020 and has been the chairman of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) since 2014. Shah was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament, from Gandhinagar in the 2019 general elections. Prior to that, he served as a Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat from 2017 to 2019.

A key strategist for the BJP and a close ally of Narendra Modi, Shah was also a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, representing Naranpura from 2012 to 2017 and Sarkhej from 1997 to 2012. In Modi’s ministry, he held various portfolios from 2002 to 2012, including Minister of State for Home, Law and Justice, Prison, Border Security, Civil Defence, Excise, Home Guards, Transport, Prohibition, Gram Rakshak Dal, Police Housing, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Shah was in charge of Uttar Pradesh, India’s most significant state politically. The BJP-led NDA secured 73 out of 80 seats, boosting Shah’s profile, leading to his appointment as the BJP’s national president in July 2014. In the initial years, he has played a pivotal role in election campaigns across various states, securing victories in Maharashtra, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, and Assam. However, the BJP faced setbacks in Delhi and Bihar in 2015.

In 2017, Shah was credited with BJP’s victories in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Manipur, although the alliance with Akali Dal lost in Punjab. In 2018, the BJP lost power in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. Under Shah’s leadership the following year, the BJP won 303 seats in the 2019 general elections, securing a majority.

2. S Jaishankar

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, born on January 9, 1955, is a former Indian diplomat and politician served as the Minister of External Affairs for the Government of India since 30 May, 2019. Affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he has been a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from 5 July, 2019. Jaishankar’s distinguished career includes a tenure as foreign secretary from January 2015 to January 2018, making him the second diplomat ever to hold the position of External Affairs Minister after Natwar Singh.

Jaishankar entered the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 1977. Over a career that spanned 38 years, he held numerous significant positions both in India and internationally. His roles included serving as High Commissioner to Singapore (2007–2009) and Ambassador to the Czech Republic (2001–2004), China (2009–2013), and the United States (2014–2015). He was instrumental in the negotiations leading to the Indo-US civilian nuclear agreement.

After retiring from the IFS, Jaishankar took on the role of President of Global Corporate Affairs at Tata Sons. His contributions to public service were recognised in 2019 when he was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award. Subsequently, he was appointed as a cabinet minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second term, officially taking office as the Minister of External Affairs on 31 May, 2019. Notably, Jaishankar is the first former foreign secretary to serve as the head of the Ministry of External Affairs.

3. Mansukh Mandaviya

Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya, born on June 1, 1972, held the dual portfolios of Minister of Health and Family Welfare and the Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers of India. Additionally, he represents Gujarat in the Rajya Sabha.

Hailing from the quaint village of Hanol in the Palitana Taluka of Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, Mandaviya grew up in a middle-class farming family as the youngest of four brothers. His early education began at the Government Primary School in Hanol, followed by his secondary education at Songadh Gurukul.

Mandaviya pursued further studies in the field of veterinary science, obtaining a certificate in Veterinary Live Stock Inspector after his Higher Secondary Certificate. He continued his academic journey at Songadh Gurukul and Gujarat Agriculture University, where he also earned a Master’s degree in Political Science from Bhavnagar University. In 2021, he advanced his academic credentials by earning a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Gujarat Institute of Development Research.

4. CR Patil

Chandrakant Raghunath Patil, commonly known as C. R. Patil, is a three-time Member of Parliament representing Navsari in Gujarat. This year Patil won from the Navsari constituency with a margin of 7,73,551 votes. He secured a total of 10,31,065 votes. He has been the President of the BJP Gujarat State unit since 2020 making him the first non-Gujarati to hold this prestigious position.

Born on March 16, 1955, in Pimpry Akaraut village in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, Patil completed his technical training at ITI in Surat following his schooling. Patil’s career in law enforcement began in 1975 when he joined the Gujarat Police as a constable, serving for 14 years. His political journey started with the BJP in 1989, and in 1991, he began his tenure at the Gujarati daily ‘Navgujarat Times’ before fully immersing himself in politics. Patil is proficient in Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, and English.

Patil’s electoral records are notable, with his 2014 victory marked by the third-highest margin in Lok Sabha history at 558,116 votes, and his 2019 win with a staggering margin of 689,668 votes, the second-largest in electoral history. His political acumen led the BJP to a historic seventh consecutive victory in Gujarat in 2022, securing 156 out of 182 seats, the highest ever for any party in the state’s history. This feat, however, was short of his bold promise to resign if the BJP won fewer than 182 seats.

In 2013, Patil made history as the first Indian MP to achieve ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management in the monitoring and administration of government services for his constituency, inspired by the Gujarat Chief Minister’s Office, which received the certification in 2009.

5. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya

Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya is a BJP Member of Parliament representing the Bhavnagar Lok Sabha constituency. She won the 2024 general elections by defeating Umeshbhai Makwana of the Aam Aadmi Party with a margin of 455,289 votes.

Odisha

1. Ashwini Vaishnaw

Ashwini Vaishnaw, born on July 18, 1970, is a former IAS officer who has held multiple key positions in the Central government, including serving as the 39th Minister of Railways, 55th Minister of Communications, and 2nd Minister of Electronics & Information Technology from 2022 to 2024. He has been a member of the Rajya Sabha, representing Odisha since 2019, and is affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Vaishnaw embarked on his administrative career in 1994 when he joined the Indian Administrative Service under the Odisha cadre where he undertook various responsibilities across the state. His tenure in the IAS saw him engage deeply with Odisha’s developmental challenges and governance.

He serves on the Committee on Subordinate Legislation and Petitions as well as the Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, and Forests, contributing to significant legislative and policy discussions.

2. Dharmendra Pradhan

Dharmendra Pradhan retained the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat in Odisha defeating his Biju Janata Dal rival Pranab Prakash Das by a substantial margin of 1,19,836 votes.

Dharmendra Pradhan, born on June 26, 1969, served as the Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in the last government. He is an alumnus of Talcher College and Utkal University and has previously held the portfolios of Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Minister of Steel.

3. Jual Oram

Portfolio:

Jual Oram, born on March 22, 1961, served as a Member of the 17th Lok Sabha, representing the Sundargarh constituency of Odisha. Affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, he has had a long-standing career in the Indian Parliament having been elected to the 12th, 13th, 14th and 16th Lok Sabha.

Oram won the Sundargarh seat again by over 1 lakh votes in Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat.

Oram also held significant positions within the Central government having been appointed as a Cabinet minister under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is one of the senior leaders of the BJP in Odisha and serves as the Vice-President of the party. Notably, he is one of the two founding members of the BJP in Odisha’s Legislative Assembly.

Throughout his political journey, Oram has served as the state president of the BJP for over four years and was the leader of the opposition in the Odisha Legislative Assembly.

Karnataka

1. Nirmala Sitharaman

Born on 18 August, 1959, Nirmala Sitharaman, held the dual portfolio of Minister of Finance and Minister of Corporate Affairs in the last Indian government. She is a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party and represents Karnataka in the Rajya Sabha, having served previously as a member of the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh from 2014 to 2016.

Sitharaman made history as the 28th Defence Minister of India from 2017 to 2019, becoming the second woman to hold the position. She is also the second female Finance Minister of India, following Indira Gandhi, and the first woman to serve as a full-time finance minister. Her political career in the Modi administration began as a junior minister, where she held multiple roles from 2014 to 2017. Initially, she served as the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs and later took on the role of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Commerce and Industry until her elevation to senior cabinet positions.

2. HD Kumaraswamy

Haradanahalli Devegowda Kumaraswamy, born on 16 December, 1959, served twice as the Chief Minister of Karnataka, first from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2018 to 2019. Kumaraswamy also held the position of Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly between 2013 and 2014. Currently, he is the president of the Karnataka State Janata Dal (Secular).

Kumaraswamy is a Member of Parliament from Mandya and represents Channapatna in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, having been elected in 2018. His political career also includes serving as the representative of Ramanagara from 2004 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2018. He is the son of HD Deve Gowda, the former prime minister of India and former chief minister of Karnataka.

3. Prahlad Joshi

Born on 27 November, 1962, Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi held the position of Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal, and Mines from 2019 to 2024. He has been a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha since 2004, representing the Dharwad constituency. Joshi also served as the state president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka from 2014 to 2016 and was a member of the panel of chairpersons of the Lok Sabha from 2014 to 2018.

Joshi retained the Dharwad Lok Sabha seat which he has been holding since 2004. He got 7,16,231 votes, winning by a margin of 97,324 votes over Vinod Asooti of Congress who secured 6,18,907 votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

Joshi first gained prominence with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) during the movement to hoist the tricolour flag at Idagah Maidan in Hubli, Karnataka, between 1992 and 1994. The Supreme Court recently upheld the Karnataka High Court’s decision, reinstating the Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation’s ownership of the maidan. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in the general elections of 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019.

On 30 May, 2019, Joshi was sworn in as a cabinet minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s second-term government.

4. Shobha Karandlaje

Born on 23 October, 1966, Shobha Karandlaje served as the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare as well as the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries in the last Ccentral government. Karandlaje holds the position of vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka.

In this edition of the Lok Sabha election, Karandlaje contested the election against Professor MV Rajeev Gowda of the Congress and won by a margin of 2,59,476 votes.

With a background in state politics, she has previously held the role of a cabinet minister in the Karnataka government and is known to be a close ally of former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa.

5. V Somanna

Born on July 20, 1951, Veeranna Somanna served as the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development in Karnataka from August 4, 2021 to May 13, 2023. Prior to this role, Somanna represented the Govindraj Nagara constituency in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from May 2018 to May 2023.

BJP’s Somanna won the Tumkuru Lok Sabha constituency with a handsome margin of 1.75 lakh votes against Congress candidate Muddahanume Gowda.

Somanna’s political career also includes his re-election to the Karnataka Legislative Council on June 10, 2016, securing 31 votes from BJP MLAs. Looking ahead, he has been announced as the BJP candidate for the Tumkur constituency in the upcoming 2024 General Elections.

In his personal life, Veeranna Somanna is married to Shailaja and is a proud parent to three children.

Maharashtra

1. Piyush Goyal

Born on June 13, 1964, Piyush Vedprakash Goyal held several key cabinet positions in the Government of India. He served as the Minister of Textiles, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. Elevated to the Cabinet Minister role on 3 September, 2017, Goyal is also a Member of Parliament for the Rajya Sabha, representing Maharashtra, and serves as the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha.

In the 2024 General Elections, Goyal emerged victorious as the BJP candidate for the Mumbai North constituency.

Previously, he was the National Treasurer of the Bharatiya Janata Party and chaired the BJP’s Information Communication Campaign Committee, managing the party’s publicity, advertising, and social media strategy for the 2014 Indian General Elections. Goyal also held additional charge as Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs in 2018 and 2019. Before that, he served as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy (2014–2017), and Mines (2016–17).

2. Nitin Gadkari

Born on May 27, 1957, Nitin Jairam Gadkari served as the Minister for Road Transport & Highways in the Government of India. He holds the distinction of being the longest-serving Minister for Road Transport & Highways with his tenure extending over nine years. Gadkari previously led the Bharatiya Janata Party as its president from 2009 to 2013.

Gadkari was able to achieve a hat-trick this year as he cliched the Nagpur seat for the third time since 2014.

Gadkari is renowned for his transformative work as the Public Works Department Minister of Maharashtra, where he spearheaded the construction of numerous roads, highways, and flyovers across the state. He represents the Nagpur constituency in the Lok Sabha and is a qualified lawyer. Throughout his career, he held various ministerial roles, including in Water Resources and River Development, Shipping, Rural Development, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME).

Widely dubbed the “Expressway Man of India” by the media, Gadkari is credited with initiating the Mumbai-Pune Expressway and has significantly advanced the development of expressways and road infrastructure in India.

3. Pratap Rao Jadhav

Portfolio:

Born on November 25, 1960, Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav represented the Buldhana Lok Sabha constituency in Maharashtra. Affiliated with Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, Jadhav secured his seat in the 15th Lok Sabha by defeating Dr Rajendra Shingne of the Nationalist Congress Party.

This year, he won the Lok Sabha election from the Buldhana constituency by securing a total of 3,49,867 votes.

Before his tenure as an MP, Jadhav held various positions, ranging from Sarpanch to Member of the Legislative Assembly. He also served as a state minister in the Sena-BJP coalition government. Additionally, Jadhav is the chairman of Sharngdhar Sugar Mills. Having been elected as an MP three times from the Buldhana constituency, he continues to be a significant figure in Maharashtra politics.

4. Raksha Khadse

Raksha Nikhil Khadse represents the Raver Lok Sabha constituency in the lower house of the Indian Parliament. She won the seat for the third time in the latest edition of Lok Sabha elecion.

Born in Khetia, Madhya Pradesh, Raksha is the daughter-in-law of Eknath Khadse, a senior leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra. She was married to Nikhil Khadse, Eknath Khadse’s son, until his untimely death.

Raksha Khadse’s political journey began at the grassroots level when she was elected as the Sarpanch of Kothadi village. She later served on the Jalgaon Zila Parishad. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Raksha made a significant impact by defeating Manish Jain of the NCP with a margin of 318,608 votes, securing 605,452 votes against Jain’s 287,384. At the age of 26, she, along with Heena Gavit, became one of the youngest members of the 16th Lok Sabha.

Raksha was re-elected in 2019 for a second term as the MP for Raver.

5. Ram Das Athawale

Born on December 25, 1959, Ramdas Bandu Athawale leads the Republican Party of India (A), a faction that traces its heritage to BR Ambedkar’s Scheduled Castes Federation, established in 1999. Since 2016, Athawale has served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, representing Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha, India’s upper house of Parliament, since 2014.

Athawale’s political career includes serving as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha for the Pandharpur constituency from 1999 to 2009 and representing the Mumbai North Central constituency from 1998 to 1999. Additionally, he was a Cabinet Minister in the Maharashtra government from 1990 to 1995 and a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from 1990 to 1996.

6. Murlidhar Kisan Mohol

Murlidhar Kisan Mohol has been elected as the Member of Parliament for the Pune Lok Sabha constituency in 2024. He previously served as the mayor of Pune, taking office in November 2019, succeeding Mukta Tilak. In the 2017 elections, Mohol was a corporator from the 12C ward of the Pune Municipal Corporation, representing the BJP.

Goa

1. Sripad Naik

Born on October 4, 1952, Shripad Yesso Naik served as the Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping, and Waterways in the last government having assumed office on July 7, 2021. Previously, he held the position of Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.

Naik won the North Goa seat by a Margin of 1,16,015 votes this year.

Jammu and Kashmir

1. Jitendra Singh

Born on November 6, 1956, Jitendra Singh held significant roles in the Central government including serving as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, overseeing Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, as well as the Departments of Atomic Energy and Space.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Singh was re-elected to represent the Udhampur constituency with a substantial majority of 1,24,373 votes. Singh previously secured the Udhampur seat in both the 2014 and 2019 general elections, achieving record margins in both the 16th and 17th Lok Sabha.

Himachal Pradesh

1. JP Nadda

Born on December 2, 1960, Jagat Prakash “J.P.” Nadda has been serving as the 11th national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party since 2020. In 2024, he was elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha, representing Gujarat. Nadda is a key figure in the BJP, closely associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Before becoming the national president, he held the position of BJP’s working president from 2019 to 2020.

Nadda’s political career includes serving as the Minister of Health and Family Welfare in the first Modi ministry from 2014 to 2019. He also held the role of Parliamentary Board Secretary for the BJP. In Himachal Pradesh, he was an MLA from Bilaspur, serving terms from 1993 to 2003 and from 2007 to 2012. He was the state’s Minister of Forest, Environment, Science, and Technology from 2007 to 2012, and as Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs from 1998 to 2003.

Madhya Pradesh

1. Shivraj Singh Chahuhan

Born on March 5, 1959, Shivraj Singh Chouhan served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for two non-consecutive terms: from 2005 to 2018 and again from 2020 to 2023. Chouhan represented the Budhni constituency in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1990 to 1991 and then continuously from 2006 to 2024. He holds the distinction of being the longest-serving chief minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Chouhan’s political journey includes significant roles within the BJP. He was the National Vice President from 2019 to 2020, a member of the Parliamentary Board, and part of the Central Election Committee. He also led the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha as its National President from 2000 to 2002. From 1991 to 2005, and again in the 18th Lok Sabha, he is representing the Vidisha constituency in the Lok Sabha.

Chouhan has been integral to the party’s state and national operations, serving as the General Secretary and president of the BJP’s Madhya Pradesh unit. His political career began early when he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 1972 at the age of 13.

2. Jyotiraditya Scindia

Born on January 1, 1971, Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia served as the Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel in the second Narendra Modi government. He has been a Rajya Sabha member representing Madhya Pradesh since 2020. Before his tenure in the upper house, Scindia was a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha for the Guna constituency from 2002 until 2019, when he faced electoral defeat.

Scindia secured a landslide victory from the Guna Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh defeating Congress candidate Yadvendra Rao Deshraj Singh by an impressive margin of 5,40,929 votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Initially, Scindia was a member of the Congress from 2001 to 2020. During his time with the Congress, he held the position of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and Corporate Affairs in the second Manmohan Singh administration from 2012 to 2014. In 2020, he switched allegiance to the BJP.

Jyotiraditya hails from a notable political lineage. He is the son of the late Madhavrao Scindia.

3. Savitri Thakur

In the Dhar Lok Sabha constituency, BJP’s Savitri Thakur secured a total of 7,94,449 votes, replacing the incumbent MP Chhatar Singh Darbar. Thakur has a history with the Dhar constituency, having represented it previously. In the 2014 elections, she won the seat by defeating Congress candidate Umang Singhar with a margin of 1,04,328 votes. Her political career began as a District Panchayat member in 2003, and she served as the District Panchayat President from 2004 to 2009. Additionally, Thakur has been a member of the parliamentary committee on industry.

4. Virendra Kumar Khatik

Born on 27 February 1954, Virendra Kumar Khatik held the position of Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment.

Khatik won from his stronghold Tikamgarh seat of Madhya Pradesh by a margin of 4,03,312 defeating the Congress’ Pankaj Ahirwar. Previously, Khatik served as the chairperson of the Standing Committee on Labour and was a member of the General Purpose Committee. In June 2019, he was appointed as the Pro-tem Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha.

Uttar Pradesh

1. Hardeep Singh Puri

Born on 15 February 1952, Hardeep Singh Puri, held the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas as well as the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs in the Indian government. Notably, he is the longest-serving Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs in history.

Puri is a 1974-batch Indian Foreign Service officer and from 2009 to 2013, he held the position of Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations.

In January 2014, Puri joined the BJP and later became a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, representing Uttar Pradesh, starting in November 2020. Before that, in May 2019, he was appointed as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Housing and Urban Affairs and Civil Aviation, and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry.

His earlier roles include serving as the chairman of the United Nations Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee from January 2011 to February 2013. Following his diplomatic career, he joined the International Peace Institute as a senior advisor in June 2013.

2. Rajnath Singh

Born on 10 July 1951, Rajnath Singh served as the 29th Defence Minister of India from 2019 to 2024. Since 2014, he has been the Deputy Leader of the House in the Lok Sabha. A seasoned leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Singh has also held the position of the party’s president twice, from 2005 to 2009 and again from 2013 to 2014. His political journey began as a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Swayamsevak.

Singh clinched his third consecutive victory in the prestigious Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, winning by a margin of 1,35,159 votes on 4 June 2024.

In his extensive political career, Singh served as the 19th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 2000 to 2002. He was the Cabinet Minister for Road Transport and Highways under the Vajpayee government from 1999 to 2000 and later as the Minister of Agriculture from 2003 to 2004. From 2014 to 2019, he held the position of the 30th Home Minister in the First Modi Ministry, notable for being the first person born post-1947 to hold this office.

Singh’s political roots are deeply embedded in Uttar Pradesh, where he initially began his political career. He led the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha from 1988 to 1990 and was elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Haidergarh constituency, serving twice as Chief Minister. He has been a Member of Parliament for the Lok Sabha from Lucknow since 2014, previously representing Ghaziabad from 2009 to 2014. Additionally, Singh served in the Rajya Sabha from 1994 to 2001 and again from 2002 to 2008.

Jayant Chaudhary was born in Dallas, Texas, USA, to Chaudhary Ajit Singh and Radhika Singh, hailing from a Hindu Jat family of the Tewatia (Teotia) Shivi-vanshi clan. His ancestral roots are in Bhatona, Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. He is the grandson of Chaudhary Charan Singh, the former prime minister of India.

4. Jitin Prasada

Born on 29 November 1973, Jitin Prasada represented the Dhaurahra Lok Sabha constituency in Lakhimpur Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh, in the 15th Lok Sabha, securing a victory with a margin of 184,509 votes.

Prasada secured victory in the Pilibhit Lok Sabha constituency clinching the seat with a substantial lead. He is also the serving Uttar Pradesh PWD minister.

On 9 June 2021, Prasada left the Congress and joined the BJP, a move announced in the presence of senior BJP leader Piyush Goyal.

5. Pankaj Chaudhary

Born on 15 November 1964 to the late Bhagwan Prasad Chaudhary, he hails from a Kurmi family. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Gorakhpur University.

He won from the Maharajgan seat this year.

Chaudhary’s political journey began with his election to the 10th Lok Sabha in 1991. He was re-elected to the 11th Lok Sabha in 1996 and the 12th Lok Sabha in 1998. However, he faced a setback in the 1999 General Elections, losing to Akhilesh Singh of the Samajwadi Party. He regained his seat in the 2004 Lok Sabha elections.

In the 2009 elections, he was defeated by Harsh Vardhan of the Congress from Maharajganj. Undeterred, he made a strong comeback in 2014, winning the same constituency and securing his place in the 16th Lok Sabha. Following a Cabinet reshuffle, he was appointed Union Minister of State for Finance in the second Modi ministry.

6. BL Verma

He hails from Ujhani in the Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. 7. Anupriya Patel

8. Kamlesh Paswan

9. SP Singh Baghel

Born on 21 June 1960, Satya Pal Singh Baghel is a BJP leader who served as a Member of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha representing Agra.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Baghel won from Agra SC reserved seat by a margin of 2.71 lakh votes.

Baghel’s political journey includes three terms in the Lok Sabha with the Samajwadi Party, where he was elected from Jalesar, Uttar Pradesh, in 1998, 1999 and 2004. His tenure with the Samajwadi Party ended with his suspension, leading him to contest unsuccessfully twice as a Bahujan Samaj Party candidate. In 2014, Baghel was elected to the Rajya Sabha but faced defeat in the subsequent election to a BJP candidate.

On 3 July 2015, he was appointed president of the BJP’s OBC Morcha. In 2017, Baghel transitioned to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly as a BJP member. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Agra in the 2019 elections, continuing his affiliation with the BJP.

10. Kirti Vardhan Singh

Born on March 1, 1966, Kirti Vardhan Singh served as the Member of Parliament for the Gonda constituency in the Lok Sabha. Widely known by his alias Raja Bhaiya, he is associated with the former Taluqdari of Mankapur.

He emerged victorious in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda constituency defeating Samajwadi Party’s Shreya Verma by a vote margin of 46,224.

He previously served in the 12th and 14th Lok Sabha as a member of the Samajwadi Party. Bihar

1. Chirag Paswan

3. Jitan Ram Manjhi

Born on 6 October 1944, Jitan Ram Manjhi served as the 23rd Chief Minister of the state from May 20, 2014 to February 20, 2015. He is the founder of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM). Manjhi has held multiple ministerial roles, including serving as the Minister for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet. His political career spans several decades, with stints in various state governments under Chief Ministers Chandrashekhar Singh, Bindeshwari Dubey, Satyendra Narayan Sinha, Jagannath Mishra, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Rabri Devi. Currently, he represents Gaya in the Lok Sabha, having secured his seat in the 2024 Indian General Election.

Since 1980, Manjhi has been a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. His political journey includes affiliations with the Indian National Congress (1980–1990), Janata Dal (1990–1996), Rashtriya Janata Dal (1996–2005), and JD(U) (2005–2015). Expelled from JD(U) after the political crisis in February 2015, Manjhi emerged as a significant Dalit leader in Bihar. 4. Ramnath Thakur

6. Nityanand Rai

The Telugu Desam Party has announced that Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, the newly elected MP from Guntur, will be part of the BJP-led NDA government. He won the Guntur seat.

2. Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu

Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu is an Indian politician who holds the distinction of being the youngest union cabinet minister in India. He has been elected as a Member of Parliament for the Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency in Andhra Pradesh across three consecutive terms in the 16th, 17th, and 18th Lok Sabha. Naidu secured victories in the 2014, 2019, and 2024 Indian general elections as a candidate of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He also serves as the National General Secretary of the TDP and leads the party in the Lok Sabha.

He defeated Tilak Perada of YSRCP by a margin of 3.2 lakh votes.

3. Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma

Belonging to Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh, Bhupathi Raju Srinivasa Varma currently serves as the Member of Parliament for the Narasapuram Lok Sabha constituency. Affiliated with the BJP, he began his political journey by winning a councilor seat in the Bhimavaram municipal ward in 2014 and later served as the in-charge chairman. From 2020 to 2023, he held the position of State Secretary.

In the 2024 elections, Varma was elected as MP from Narasapuram defeating Umbala Guduri of the YSR Congress Party by a margin of over 2.76 lakh votes.

West Bengal

1. Shantanu Thakur

Born in 1982, Shantanu Thakur has been serving as the Member of Parliament for Bangaon since 2019. Following the cabinet reshuffle on July 7, 2021, he was appointed as the Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Thakur retained the Bongaon seat with a margin of over 73,000 votes.

2. Sukanta Majumdar

Sukanta Majumdar represented the Balurghat constituency in West Bengal in the Lok Sabha, elected during the 2019 Indian general election. He is the state president of the BJP in West Bengal. Majumdar holds a PhD in Botany from the University of North Bengal. He previously served as the president of the BJP, West Bengal, from September 20, 2021, to June 9, 2024.

He won the Balurghat Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of over 10,000 votes.

Punjab

1. Ravneet Singh Bittu

Ravneet Singh Bittu joined the BJP in March this year, after a notable tenure with the Congress.

He served as the leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha from March 11, 2021, to July 18, 2021. Bittu has been a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha, representing Ludhiana in the 2014 and 2019 elections, and previously represented Anandpur Sahib in 2009. He is the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh.

Bittu, a three-time Congress MP and grandson of the late Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, faced defeat in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections for the Ludhiana constituency, losing by 20,942 votes as announced on 4 June 2024.

Uttarakhand

1. Ajay Tamta

Born on July 16, 1972, Ajay Tamta served as the Minister of State for Textiles and currently represents the Almora constituency in the Lok Sabha. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP declared him their candidate for Almora, and he secured a victory.

Tamta’s political journey began with a contest in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections from Almora, which he did not win. However, he was elected to the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly from Someshwar, Almora, in the 2012 elections as a BJP member. He subsequently won the Lok Sabha elections from Almora in 2014, 2019, and 2024.

It is a developing story.
