In the Vande Bharat trains that will go to Kashmir, the Indian Railways has included unique amenities including central heating, according to authorities.
The first train directly linking the Kashmir Valley is slated to begin operations this fiscal year, and special Vande Bharat trains would travel in locations where temperatures drop below zero degrees, they added.
According to a senior official who declined to be named, the current design of the chair car version Vande Bharat rakes has been changed for the voyage to Kashmir.
He also mentioned that there will be specific heating arrangements for plumbing and water tanks, an integrated heating element for the driver’s front view glass, and upgraded safety measures for Kashmir-bound Vande Bharat trains.
The railways try to keep air-conditioned trains at 24 degrees Celsius.
The rail link between Udhampur, Srinagar, and Baramulla would connect Kashmir to the rest of the country. Currently, tourists may only go to Katra in Jammu via Indian Railways. The Rs. 37,012 crore train connection would help close the connectivity gap between Jammu and Srinagar.
Baramulla, Srinagar, Qazigund, Banihal, and Sangaldan have already been linked. The highest railway bridge in the world, which spans the Chenab River, is being prepared. Some tiny tunnels linking the Chenab Rail Bridge are nearing completion. The full path is scheduled to be completed in the next weeks.
An integrated heating element has been added to the front look-out window to assist train drivers.
The officer explained that the driver’s cabin front look-out glass had been particularly designed with inbuilt heating components. These components will keep the glass de-frosted at sub-zero conditions. He also added that this was the first time the Indian Railways had made such an arrangement.
Heaters have also been included in the air drier system to ensure optimal brake system operation.
Officials stated that the water tanks of the special Vande Bharat trains feature silicone heating pads (1800 W per tank) to prevent freezing.
The official stated that heating pads have been installed for bio-retention tanks. There are also self-regulating heating cables for plumbing to prevent water from freezing.
All of the water pipelines in these trains are equipped with heating wires and thermal insulation.
