Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significance of Lok Sabha elections 2024, proclaiming that they are “going to be a subject of study for political experts.”

In an interview with Hindustan, PM Modi addressed the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, stating the unique dynamics of the political landscape and the enthusiasm among voters despite speculations of a subdued electoral atmosphere.

Responding to queries about the perceived lack of enthusiasm and the absence of a “wave” akin to previous elections, PM Modi dismissed such notions, attributing the subdued atmosphere to the anticipated defeat of the Opposition.

“Elections are the biggest festival of democracy in India. It is not the elections, but the opposition camp that is dull because of their certain defeat,” he remarked.

PM Modi reinforced his perspective by stating, “If you wish to see the wave, you will have to go to the ground, be among the masses. You will see the enthusiasm among people for the third term of the BJP government at the Centre.”

PM Modi targets Congress’ model of governance

Drawing a sharp contrast between the governance models of the BJP and the Congress, PM Modi highlighted the BJP’s focus on national development over familial interests. He stated, “Today, when we have a majority government, our priority is to strengthen the country — villages, the poor, our farmers, and the middle-class society.”

“Our report card of 10 years is proof that the BJP fulfils its guarantees. Now, we are going to the masses with our vision of a Developed India by 2047,” PM Modi reiterated.

The Prime Minister articulated his vision for India, envisioning a nation where every citizen has access to housing and employment opportunities.

He underscored the government’s commitment to uplifting the marginalised and empowering women, citing achievements such as poverty alleviation and housing initiatives.

“The fact that 25 crore (250 million) people have come out of poverty, toilets have been constructed in more than 11 crore (110 million) households, and more than 4 crore (40 million) poor people have their own houses proves that the BJP government at the Centre is dedicated to serving the poor,” PM Modi affirmed.

The voting for the general election this year is divided into seven phases with Phase I polling on April 19. The counting of votes will be on June 4.
