Sanjay Raut, a Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Kalaram Temple in Nashik, Maharashtra. He claimed that PM Modi decided to visit only after party chief Uddhav Thackeray announced a trip there on January 22.

Raut said,”Earlier, there was no plan to visit the Kalaram Temple. But when Thackeray announced that he will go on January 22, the day when the Ram Temple in Ayodhya would be inaugurated, the BJP told PM Modi that he should go there. PM Modi came here as Uddhav Thackeray was to perform aarti at Kalaram Temple.”

Raut chastised PM Modi for not visiting Manipur, which has been plagued by ethnic violence since May 3 last year, saying the Shiv Sena (UBT) was planning to visit a Ram temple in the state, and that PM Modi might follow suit.

“There is a Ram temple in Manipur. The people there have been waiting for one-and-a-half years. Hundreds of people have been killed. People’s houses have been burnt. Violence is happening. But the Prime Minister has not gone there,” he said.
“So, we have found a solution. There is a Ram temple in Manipur, which is small. We will go there and offer our prayers. I believe when Uddhav Thackeray announces his plan to visit Manipur, the Prime Minister will also follow suit,” he added.

PM Modi is set to visit Maharashtra today and attend several events throughout the state. Heavy security has been deployed in and around Nashik, where the Prime Minister will launch and address the 27th National Youth Festival.
