One of the women who filed a sexual abuse case against Prajwal Revanna is now claiming that she was forced to file a false case against the MP, who has been accused of abusing around 2,900 women.

The National Commission for Women (NCW), claims that one of the numerous women who filed a complaint against the MP from Karnataka’s Hassan, was forced into doing so.

With this development, Revanna seems to have received a major assist in his defence, Irrespective of the fact if these claims are fabricated or real.

The NCW said a woman approached them to file a complaint against three men who were “dressed in civilian clothes” and who claimed that they were from the Karnataka police.

“She also complained that she received many calls from unknown numbers asking her to file a complaint against the accused. It has come to light that the woman was forced by a group of individuals to the file the complaint on charges of harassment,” NCW said.

Several media reports claim that the woman has sought protection for her family.

On Thursday, NCW also denied reports about 700 women filing complaints to the commission against Prajwal Revanna.

“NCW would like to state that 700 women have not made any complaints to NCW regarding the Prajwal Revanna case. Some media channels are falsely reporting this,” the commission said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

‘SIT threatening victims with false prostitution cases against JDS’

Following the NCW’s revelations, Karnataka’s ex-chief minister and JDS state president HD Kumaraswamy accused the Special Investigation Team (SIT), probing the case, of threatening the victims with “false prostitution case against them.”

“The investigating officers are going to the doorsteps of the victims and threatening them. Tell us, isn’t it a fact that the SIT officers are threatening the victims with false prostitution cases against them? Is this how the probe is being conducted,” Kumaraswamy, uncle of Prajwal Revanna, said hitting out at the state’s Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who earlier described the case as the biggest sex scandal in the world.

“Where have you kept the rescued woman who was kidnapped? Why is she not being produced before the court? Do you support the act of distribution of private videos of the victims,” Kumaraswamy further said.

Kumaraswamy demanded a fair probe into the case and alleged the Congress government’s involvement in the SIT investigation.

The JSD president also met Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot and submitted a memorandum urging for an “impartial probe” into the case.

Case against Prajwal Revanna

Three cases of rape have been registered against Prajwal Revanna by the SIT after some women agreed to file criminal complaints against the Hassan MP.

The SIT was constituted by the Karnataka government to probe the sexual assualt videos that were allegedly accessed from Prajwal Revanna’s mobile phone by a car driver and later leaked to the MP’s political rivals.

Electronic devices including pen drives and CDs emerged in the public domain on April 21, ahead of the April 26 Hassan parliament poll, with videos which seem to suggest that Prajwal Revanna, allegedly carried out sexual assaults on several women in Hassan and captured the attacks as videos on his mobile phone.

As many as 2,900 files with videos and images of the sexual encounters of Prajwal Revanna were found in the pen drives that were leaked.

Where is Prajwal Revanna?

Prajwal Revanna has fled the country and the SIT has already arrested his father and JDS MLA HD Revanna under sexual abuse and kidnap charges.
